What will my money be used for?

Unless you are giving to a specific appeal, your donation will be used where it is needed most. CHF International depends on donations like yours to support our emergency and disaster relief efforts and pilot new projects in areas of desperate need. Your money may be used, for example, to start a women’s health clinic in Afghanistan, provide emergency food kits to displaced persons in Colombia, or finance a small business loan for a family in Mexico.

See our GuideStar profile (You will need to register to view this profile).

A dollar donated to CHF goes a long way. For instance:

• $100 supplies a small business loan to a widow so she can generate income to support her family;
• $300 provides a family with proper sanitation;
• $600 provides a year’s supply of food and water for one growing child;
• $1,000 repairs an existing well that will provide 400 people with clean water;
• $7,000 builds a new well, which could save the lives of 800 people;
• $12,000 builds a new school building, providing children with valuable education.

How can I help raise money for CHF International?

You can greatly benefit CHF International by talking with friends, family and co-workers about the life-changing work that we do worldwide. Help us raise awareness about how CHF International is working to alleviate poverty, create stronger communities, and provide economic opportunities for the poor and vulnerable populations around the world. Encourage them to visit our web site, sign up for our newsletter, or make a contribution. If you’d like to be actively involved in fundraising for CHFInternational, contact our Resource Development Director at 301-587-4700. We’d look forward to working with you!

How can I be added to the CHF International mailing list?

Email us at mailbox@chfinternational.org if you wish to be added to our mailing list or call our Resource Development Director at 301-587-4700.

Can I donate clothes, food or other supplies?

Cash contributions are preferable as they enable us to make a direct impact on the regional economies in which we work through our programs. It is our practice to purchase local goods from vendors in our project countries and hire local workers for construction projects. This approach provides an income for these individuals so they are able to purchase clothes, food and other supplies as they need them.

Can I donate stocks, property or securities?

CHF International is glad to consider any gift you are willing to make to support our valuable programs. Please contact our Resource Development Director at 301-587-4700 to determine how and if your gift can be processed.

Will I receive a tax receipt for my gift?

Online donations made with a credit card receive an immediate confirmation letter and electronic receipt. If you have mailed us a donation by credit card or check, you will receive a tax receipt statement along with your donor acknowledgement letter by mail within 14 days of our receipt of your donation.

Does my employer offer corporate matching gifts?

Your employer may have a matching gifts program! Many corporations will match their employees’ non-profit contribution dollar for dollar. Make sure to find out if your employer does this; your gift of $500 could actually be $1,000 with a corporate matching gift!

What does the CFC Code mean?

The CFC code listed on our website is the designation for CHF’s participation in the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC).  CFC is the world's largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaign, with more than 300 CFC campaigns throughout the country and internationally to help to raise millions of dollars each year. Pledges made by Federal civilian, postal and military donors during the campaign season (September 1st to December 15th) support eligible non-profit organizations that provide health and human service benefits throughout the world.

We appreciate your financial contributions. CHF International is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization registered as the Cooperative Housing Foundation in the state of New Jersey and, as such, your donation is tax deductible.
