Promoting Community-Driven Development and Competitiveness

CHF International began working in Serbia in 2000 implementing a six-year, USAID-funded Community Revitalization through Democratic Action (CRDA) program. Through the CRDA, CHF promoted citizen participation among communities, while addressing critical needs for both economic and social revitalization in the southeast region of Serbia. By the end of the program, CRDA had successfully rehabilitated 1,300 infrastructure projects in 156 communities.

In partnership with Booz Allen Hamilton, USAID and Development Alternatives, Inc., CHF is promoting the disaster management capacity and economic security of communities in Serbia. The Serbia Contingency Planning and Economic Security Program (SCOPES) is helping communities and local municipalities plan and prepare for disasters. Through SCOPES, CHF is also promoting partnerships with local businesses to help create jobs for vulnerable communities affected by high levels of unemployment.
